PriceWatcher para Mac

I bought what what looks like a previous version of this software in 2012. It had the same name, same function and a very similar icon, though its now listed as 'Discontinued' on MacUpdate (www.macupdate.com/app/mac/25613/pricewatcher). It worked fine for a while but stopped working when I upgraded to Mavericks 18 months after buying it. The then developer (Think Time Creations /www. awatcher.net) stopped replying to emails.
Is this (as it appears to be) an updated version of that software? If so, why has the version number gone _down_? The one I still have was 1.7.6, this is now 1.2.26. And is there an upgrade price for us oldtimers?
(MacUpdate insists on a star rating, so I'm giving it 2.5 stars, the current average, so as not to distort the existing rating - but I have't tried this version.)

I'm disappointed. It works, okay, BUT why isn't a basic function like sorting columns integrated? Mostly I want the list of my articles sorted alphabeticly, and sometimes I want to know, which articles have the biggest changes. At the moment it's a pain to watch these information if using long lists. And yes, I've very long lists!

Does not work. I tried every variation of Amazon syntax I could think of to get URLs (and even straight ASINs etc) into the app. It retains none of them; the country preference always defaults to France; and the developer seems to have no other method of being contacted except via FaceBook, which I do not use. A bit of a dud, I fear :-(
